Effective residual chlorine prevents bacteria (pathogenic bacteria) from remaining in the distribution pipe. Therefore, effective residual chlorine plays a very important role in the safety and hygiene of tap water, which does not affect human health. If tap water is not chlorinated, it will not only violate the “Drinking Water Quality Standards” in the Drinking Water Management Regulations. Moreover, the water supply cannot ensure the health and safety of drinking water, and there is a fear that water-borne diseases may occur. If people are sensitive to the residual chlorine, they can boil for a few minutes, put the tap water into other uncovered containers for a few hours, use activated carbon to filter, or add an appropriate amount of sodium thiosulfate (commonly known as Hypo) to remove residual chlorine.
In addition to the quality of tap water, the cleaning of water towers and plumbing and faucet materials may also affect water quality, so the Environmental Protection Bureau reminds people to remember to clean the water tower regularly. Besides, Bureau of Standards and Metrology, Inspection has set the lead content standard for drinking water faucets. Replace the faucet with lead content in line with national standards, and the water-filled container directly affects the safety of drinking water. Please use an eco-friendly cup with an eco-label.
