The subsidy for replacement of old motorcycles with phase 6 and 7 low-pollution ones have officially run out.

Date2020-02-13Hit708
The subsidy for replacement of old motorcycles with phase 6 and 7 low-pollution ones have officially run out.

The Environmental Protection Administration is promoting the replacement of phase 1-4 highly polluting old motorcycle produced before Jun 30, 2007 and the Environmental Protection Bureau of Hualien County Government launches an incentive subsidy program to encourage citizens to retire their phase 1-4 highly polluting old motorcycles produced before Jun 30, 2007. It is an attempt to reduce air pollution due to the highly polluting vehicles and improve the air quality of the county.

Mr. Rao, Commissioner of the Environmental Protection Bureau, points out that the current incentive program and that for replacement with electric motorcycles do not appeal to citizens in terms of the amount of subsidy provided to encourage them to replace their old motorcycles, which leads to less than satisfactory result of the programs. In addition to the subsidy programs above, the county government is launching the “Rules for subsidy for replacement old motorcycles in 2020” with the Bureau in charge of encouraging the replacement of old motorcycles running in Hualien with new, more environmental-friendly ones. The rules were promulgated on Jan. 3, 2020 and additional NT$ 10,000 is provided for “every new phase 6 or later gas-fueled motorcycle purchased for the replacement of phase 1-4 old motorcycle produced on and before June 30, 2007.”The subsidy is provided for up to 560 replacements.

As of 16:50 Feb 12, 2020, all of the 560 quotas for the replacement of phase 1-4 old motorcycle produced on and before June 30, 2007 with a new phase 6 or later gas-fueled motorcycle” run out. Immediately, the Bureau alerted the motorcycle business association of Hualien to spread the news to all motorcycle garages over LINE groups that the subsidy has run out, while the news was also posted through the County’s motorcycle inspection station bulletin.

For citizens who are still interested in replacing their old motorcycles, the NT$ 5,000 subsidy offered by the Environmental Protection Administration for the replacement with phase 7 gas-fueled motorcycles is still available.
